DIYC Sailing Program Weather Policy

It is understood by both program participants and DIYC that weather conditions in our area of activity are highly variable. Our primary concern is the safety of all participants, staff, and property involved in the sailing program. Though every effort will be made to provide advanced notice in the event of forecasted inclement weather, sailing activities may be canceled or postponed at the discretion of the DIYC Waterfront due to weather conditions at any time. Weather includes (but is not limited to) the absence of wind, sustained winds over 20mph or gusts over 25mph, rain, thunderstorms, lightning detected within a 10mi radius, excessive wave activity, fog, heat over 110 degrees or any other conditions deemed hazardous by the Waterfront to program participants. Sailing may also be canceled in the event of a Small Craft Advisory or other Watches & Warnings issued for our area by the National Weather Service.
